Editing

There are two styles of editing that are included as one service with Fortune Literary Services. These are generally known as paragraph-level or stylistic editing and line-level or copy editing.

Paragraph-Level/Stylistic Editing

Sytlistic editing examines issues such as:

  • Inconsistent behavior or speech within a particular character
  • Use of too many adjectives
  • All of the sentences are the same length
  • Use of too much jargon
  • Vocabulary is not suited to the target audience

While it is not the specific intent, there may be changes to the author’s original voice or style based on the editor’s suggestions.

Line-Level/Copy Editing

Copy editing strives to leave the author’s voice and style intact but will address issues such as:

  • Grammar
  • Usage
  • Consistency issues
