Developmental Editing
Developmental editing can begin at any point in the process, but it is often helpful for the author to get the editor involved in developmental editing early in the process. By beginning the process as a team, the editor can make suggestions before the author has spent time developing a section that will need to be extensively rewritten or cut completely.
Developmental editing can mean major changes to:
- Plot
- Characters
- Timing and order of events
- Other structural Changes
